Just had a substandard experience with Lex Brodie @ Aiea. Basically, mediocre mechanics that relies on ‘swaptronics’ mentality to repair issues: brought in my Volvo in with clanking-suspension issues. They immediately provided detailed diagnosis and recommended items to be replaced ($2.6k w/ labor) but can’t guarantee if it fixes issue. Having been an experienced Volvo owner of 2 SUVs for 13 yrs, I ask them to take a second look on the strut mounts/motor mounts (pic below) which was not what they recommended to fix, as these are common problems with Volvos due to their weights. They still stuck with their initial diagnosis, at this time I pulled the vehicle to get a second opinion. Fast forward the next day, I returned to speak with office manager and showed him the pic. Still stuck to their initial diagnosis, which clearly is the wrong one. Their process is straightforward and established, however I ask to get something fixed and they basically said lets replace this but we can’t guarantee it fixes your problem. So beware, if you ask them to repair a leak, they may recommend to change the headlights. UPDATE: 4 Aug 21 @ 1550hrs - appreciate the response from Mr Scott W, a Lex Brodie Tm Mbr and the offer to take a second look of the vehicle. Fortunately, I will be taking the vehicle to the dealer or Volvo Specialist to get it repaired. UPDATE: 20 Aug 21 - I rest my case, receipt from Volvo Specialist says it all, guaranteed fix first time. Not sure if Lex Brodie can better this deal, they charged me 3 hrs of labor $400 for taking pictures.
Aloha Paco M. and thank you very much for your feedback. We are pulling together your quote information. We have pulled up a picture of Napa's listing for the motor mount your picture shows. The new picture shows the open area in the bushing that your posted pictures show. Was this open space in the motor mount what you see as a proper cause to replace the motor mount? Please email me at scottwilliams@lexbrodies… and we can email you the Napa Parts picture (that shows the spacing in the motor mount bushing). Joey, the store manager who assisted you, is an ASE master Technician (who also worked at an auto dealership for years). Based on his ASE experience and dealership training, as well as his work experience, the motor mount appears to show no reason why it would not be still be functioning it's designed function. May we suggest to meet with our VP of Mechanical services Keith Kobayashi, to re-inspect the motor mount, as well as the recommendation our team recommended? We can offer a $25 Aloha Gas Card for the trip back into our shop to re-inspect. If you happen to go to the dealer to re-inspect, please share their invoice with us. We would really like to view their diagnosis. Please also share the quote we provided for you as well. Also, please note, we really do our best to NOT recommend repairs based on solving noises. We prefer to recommend part replacement when the part no longer performs it's designed function, or for improved performance or recommended based on our technicians experince. "Thank you... very Much!" for taking the time to share your feedback as well as any additional information. Please let us know if you would like to meet with Keith Kobayashi (our VP of Mechanical Repairs and also a trained ASE Master Technician with almost 30 years of experience). Sincerely, Scott D Williams 34 Year Lex Brodie's Team Member
