Went in again for my brakes and checking what's wrong with my AC. I made an appointment and told service advisor to check my brakes and AC. The AC unit was priced about 3k for an evaporator core which is outrageous when my buddy's shop fixed it for 1,500... then I was told my brakes are fine even when they "chug chug" braking downhill.... I was told to take it to the overpriced nissan dealer... I have an appointment to fix the brakes at another shop and hopefully my brakes don't go out before then or there will definitely be a lawsuit against lex brodie for telling me the brakes were fine the first time and then when I come back for the second time to go to the dealership....... Do not trust these people with your care... they clearly don't care about your car or saftey and will waste your time. It's hard working 2 jobs in Hawaii.. it takes a lot to schedule service on your vehicle with a busy work week and the fact I was basically turned away twice by lex brodie is messed up... I've got a couple days till I'm actually going to get my problem fixed and if my brakes go out from driving in between jobs & seeing family on this upcoming holiday, then there will be a lawsuit filed against Lex Brodie...
Aloha Mr. Theodore G., thank you for sharing your feedback. Please accept our apologies for the disappointing experience. We pulled the invoice and saw these notes for the brakes (copied from the invoice): ** THE TECH VERIFIED NOISE WHILE BRAKING DOWNHILL AND ON FLAT ROADS. IT IS INTERMITTENT AND HAPPENS ONLY WHILE BRAKING LIGHTLY AT THIS TIME. HE HEARS IT FROM THE FRONT RIGHT AREA OF THE VEHICLE. THE FRONT BRAKES AND WHEEL BEARINGS ARE STILL IN GOOD CONDITION. HE FOUND THAT THE RIGHT FRONT CV AXLE SHAFT HAS EXCESSIVE PLAY WHERE IT MOUNTS INTO THE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY. THIS MAY OR MAY NOT BE THE CAUSE OF THE NOISE WHILE BRAKING. ADVISE CUSTOMER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO FURTHER DIAGNOSE THIS NOISE ISSUE.** Being this is an intermittent issue that we cannot pinpoint, that is when we'll refer the vehicle to the dealer since they have likely experience that concern in the past (even though it's an uncommon one). We are careful not to recommend items we are not confident that will solve the concern or are recommended by industry standards. We see the brake inspections and test drive was done at no cost. For the AC inspection and recharge, we noted and copied form the invoice: "DVI HVAC (attention needed) The refrigerant pressures were very low, and the tech recovered only 0.15 lbs(Max charge=0.88 lbs). He topped off refrigerant and added dye to the system. The vacuum leak test failed, and he detected a leak with an electronic leak detector. It detected refrigerant vapors coming out of the vents. This indicates an evaporator core leak." For our evaporator quote, we recommended dealer parts since the dash needs to be pulled. Over the last 30+ years we have been doing AC repairs, we have learned by experience the rather high risk when using aftermarket evaporators in some vehicles. They either don't last or they don't fit perfectly in the evaporator housing where they AC doesn't get as cold as before. For your vehicles, the AC Drier (which is basically the filter for the AC system comes with the AC condenser which also adds to the price. Some shops will perform this repair without replacing the AC drier which can lead to future AC issues including poor AC performance. Thank you for sharing you found another shop to help with the AC repairs. Please email us at [email protected] and we'll reimburse you for the AC inspection and recharge today (Which totaled $144.29). Please also confirm the proper spelling we should make the check to. Thank you very much for taking the time to share this additional information. Sincerely, Scott D Williams 35+ years Lex Brodies' team member
