Aloha Mr. W & 'Thank You… very Much' for your feedback. As part of the safety inspection process, we take pictures of items that fail. Thus, we have pictures of the tires in question. From the pictures, we can see that the center portion of the tires can 'pass the penny test', but, the shoulders cannot. In fact, one of the tires actually shows the steal belts starting to show. To pass the Sate Safety Inspection, the entire tread must pass, even the shoulders. We asked our team to send you the pictures this morning (please let us know if you received them). In circumstances where customer are unsure of our stance of the Hawaii State Safety inspections, we actually encourage them to call the State Safety Inspection office @ 733-2542 and double check our stance. If we ever miss interpret the law, we want to know! Please note; safety inspectors are actually threatened with heavy fines, and even jail time, if vehicles are passed when the inspectors knows they should not. We would like to sincerely apologize for our team members 'oh, you’re the expert' comment. We never condone unprofessional behavior in any circumstance. It’s our job to help educate and be patient while sharing our findings. We will address with our team member on our end. Please note, our team is not paid commission on sales, so there is zero incentive for our team to recommend any repairs they do not feel are needed.
