Made my appointment for rotate and balance on a 3/4 chevy. After showing up on time, I was told it would be 249.00 dollars with aftermarket rims. To unbolt 8 lug nuts from a rim and put it back on? They said it needed special care. It's a truck tire and rim you see everywhere. Not much different then chevy high dollar upgraded rims out there. They also said it would now be 2 and half hours even though I scheduled it already. It took 4 and a half hours for a one hour job by one guy. They didn't even work on it until I asked about why it hasn't even moved 2 and a half hours into my wait. They did give me 40.00 off for waiting that long. Figure my time is worth more then that. There has to be a better place that doesn't jack up prices that much for common aftermarket truck rims.
Follow Up Response: Aloha Mr. Obst, We were able to locate and pull up your invoice from the Waipahu location (the review was left on the Queen St. locations page). We found our team charged for aftermarket wheel rotation as well as the balancing. They / we should not have charged for the rotation when we were charging for the balancing. Our Waipahu team should be calling to arrange to refund for the rotation charges. Please email us at [email protected] if you don't hear from them in the next day or 2. Also, please note, to prevent this from happening again we are deleting the aftermarket tire rotation charge code! Original Response: Aloha Mr. Obst, thank you very much for your feedback. May we ask for some more information so we can look into for you? Please email your invoice number and a couple photos of your wheels so we can review for you. Did our team quote the aftermarket wheel charges before we started? Please note: For after market wheels, there are many special considerations needed (that are not concerns with most OR wheels): hub centric like OR wheels, or lug centric? Are their centering rings? Were the proper lug nuts used? Ball seat, tapered, or other? Is there OE brake securing clips keeping wheels from sitting flush and allowing proper clamping force ? (Where OE are build with indentations to make room for them). “Wheel Offs” are very rare, but when they happen, it’s almost always due to an issue with an after market application. (This almost never happens with OE wheels. (We use a double torque double check process). Plus after market wheels are normally using stick on weights where the old weights need removed and the surface for the new weights needs cleaned and thoroughly dried, this takes more time. Lastly, if they are oversized, then care is needed to avoid strains due to rushing with heavy wheel and tire combos. Please share your invoice numbers and picks and we’ll look into as soon as possible!
